Why Toner Fights the Brass Monster

When you bleach your hair, you strip away your natural color pigments. This leaves behind underlying warm tones, like yellow and orange, which we call “brassiness.”

Toner contains opposing cool pigments, like violet or blue. These pigments sit on top of the hair shaft and cancel out the warm tones they’re designed to fight.
