What is Temple Fade?

Temple Fade is a haircut technique that creates a gradual, seamless transition from very short hair at the temples to longer hair on top. It means the hair is cut and blended so it appears to “fade” away into the skin around the temple area. This creates a sharp, clean look that frames the face.

Think of it like a gradient on a painting, where one color softly blends into another. In a temple fade, hair length blends from nothing into your chosen style. Most people miss this: a true temple fade specifically targets the hair growth pattern around the temple, which grows in a unique circular direction.

This makes it trickier to blend than other fades. I see many clients come in with a choppy temple line because this detail was overlooked.

The Temple Fade and Your Unique Hair Whorl
