What to Expect After a Hair Transplant

The immediate post-op period involves some redness, swelling, and scabbing in the recipient area. The newly implanted grafts are delicate and must be protected from any trauma. By day 10, the scabs typically fall off, and the scalp begins to look normal, though the real waiting game is just beginning.

Around 2-4 weeks post-surgery, the transplanted hairs will shed. This can be alarming, but it’s a universal and expected phase. The follicle remains alive under the skin. New hair growth usually starts between 3 to 6 months, with full results visible after 12 to 18 months as the hair matures and thickens.
