What is Electric Razor?

Most people don’t realize that the first electric razor was invented in 1928 by a man who was inspired by the workings of a manual farm equipment motor. This tool fundamentally changed daily grooming routines.

How an Electric Razor Works on Hair

An electric razor uses a fine, perforated metal screen or guard that sits against your skin. Sharp blades move rapidly behind this guard, trapping and cutting hairs that poke through the tiny holes.

Think of it like a lawnmower cutting grass that grows through a grate. The guard protects your skin from direct contact with the cutting blades, which is why it’s so difficult to cut yourself.

I see many clients who press too hard, thinking it will get a closer shave. This actually irritates the skin and can cause ingrown hairs because it bends the follicle.

Electric Razor vs. Manual Blade on Hair

I consistently observe that the health of the scalp and hair shaft is paramount. An electric razor can be a fantastic tool for reducing mechanical damage compared to a blade.

However, most people use the same head for years without replacing it. Dull blades cause more pulling, which can traumatize the hair follicle and lead to inflammation over time.
