Another misconception is that they damage all hair types equally. The reality is that finer, straighter hair types have a smoother cuticle, making it harder to form and hold knots without significant backcombing, which can be more damaging.

Many believe you can’t ever get rid of them. While you can’t comb them out once mature, they can be carefully cut off. The hair that grows back is unaffected, as the hair root and follicle remain intact and healthy underneath.
