In hair care, this property influences how your hair interacts with heat tools and styling products. Most people don’t realize that water has an extremely high dielectric constant, which is why humidity so drastically affects our hair’s behavior and style.

How Dielectric Constant Dictates Your Hair’s Humidity Response

Your hair’s ability to absorb moisture from the air is directly tied to dielectric principles. Hair is hygroscopic, meaning it seeks balance with the moisture in its environment.

Think of a high dielectric constant like a powerful magnet for water molecules.
