What is Deep Conditioning?

Most people miss this: it doesn’t just coat the hair. A true deep conditioner uses heat and time to temporarily soften the hair’s outer layer, allowing hydrating ingredients to get inside where they’re needed most.

How Deep Conditioning Repairs Your Hair

Your hair shaft is built like a pencil. The outer layer, or cuticle, is like the wood. When it’s damaged, the inner graphite (the cortex) spills out.

Deep conditioning works by smoothing those cracked cuticle scales back down. It fills in the gaps with proteins and moisturizers, sealing the cortex inside. This prevents breakage and makes your hair feel smooth.

For a deep conditioner, you should leave a tiny bit of residue behind. This acts as a leave-in treatment, providing ongoing protection and slip throughout the week.
