Chemical Affinity is the natural attraction between hair’s components and specific chemicals that determines how they interact. Think of it like magnets pulling certain ingredients into your hair strands. Most people don’t realize this invisible force controls everything from color results to damage levels during chemical services.

I often see clients surprised when I explain how chemical affinity causes their gray hairs to grab color faster than other sections. This happens because porous gray hair has higher affinity for dye molecules.

Chemical Affinity in Hair Dye: Why Color Grabs Unevenly
